POULTRY SHOW.

INTERESTING DISPLAY. RESULTS OF JUDGING. TriE Auckland and Suburban Poultry Association's sixteenth annual show was opened at the Royal Allen Hall yesterday. The entries showed an increase of about 60 over those of last, year, and totalled about 450, including the cat sec tion, the judging of which will be begun at ten o'clock on Saturday morning. The arrangements of the show are excellent, particularly the lighting and di.<pi. v m the pens. British Game, Wyandottes, Brown and White Leghorns, and Orpingtons are well represented. Plymouth Hocks have como up very well this year, and Minorcas are also in evidence. Hamburgs, Bantams, and Langshans are only small classes, and tho same applies to a new variety of fowl, known as Rhode Island Reds. The duck classes are few in number but good in quality, especially the Indian Runners, Mr. R. Smith winning in every class. The cup winner in the Game class is a modern English black and red game cockerel, owned by Messrs. J. and W. G. Mason. This bird, the judge (Mr. J. Thomson) considers of exceptional merit. In addition to winning the cup it was adjudged the best cock or cockerel in the ladies' bracelet class. The winning hen and pullet in the Indian Game class were easily best in their class, being of good type and pencilling. In the old English Game section the best in the class was un- 1 fortunate in having a wry-tail, and had i to be passed over by the judge. Mr. W. F. Connor, the judge in the Wyandotte class, declared the best young bird of the Silver Wyandottes shown to bo that of Mr. A. Cafler, of Whnngnre|. It won the first and the special prizes, also | the cup, in strong competition. Both cockerels and pullets show a big improvement on last year's display. White Wyandottes are few in number, and the quality not quite equal to that of previous year.'. Golden Wyandottes aro only fair! Irs the Partridge Wyandottes, although the entries are poor, the quality is very good, and the winning cockerel would be capable of winning in good company. Taken altogether the show is a good 'one. and it will bo open to the public to-dav and to-morrow between 10 a.m. and lO^p.ni.' Following are the principal awards :— BRITISH GAME.
