NEW NAME WANTED FOR STREET.

iTiu: Mount .Albert Borough Council met last night. Present: The Mayor, Mr. I Murdoch McLean, end Messrs- R. Gisbv, 0. Knight, F. J. H. Harrison, H. T. Markwick, T. B. Clav, and J. H. Tonson Garlick, waited upon the council and urged that a m.iro lifting name should be given Id the thoroughfare' known as Mary's Larc; that a footpath should be formed on the eastern side; and that a request ba made by the council for a tram stop jab the junction of Mary's Lane and the I main road. The Mayor said that the matters mentioned by the deputation would receive the council's consideration. J In reply to tho Mayor, Mr. Garlick stated I that several new names had been suggested | for Mary's Lane—Rawhiti Avenue, Arawa. Avenue, Lloyd Avenue, and Waitemata ' J Avenue. I Two letters were received by the council, asking that a lamp be " placed in Elizabeth Street, on the boundary of tho Moi.nt Eden and Mount Albert boroughs It was resolved to ask the Mount Eden Borough Council to share half the cost of a lamp. The Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board notified that the council's contribution for the current' vear would be £1121. Mr. T. B. Clay was appointed deputyMajor of the borough.
