STANLEY BAY PLAYGROUND.
PROPOJ'.L TO HARBO'R BOARD. At the end of last week Mr. K. ('. Shepherd, chairman of the Stanley Bay Ratepayers' .V-ssociation, and Mr. "\V. K. Howitt. a member of the association waited on .Mr. H. I). Heather, chairman' of the Harbour Board, and laid before mm plans of the proposed new pari; at Stanley Bay. This is just opposite the wharf, and comprises an area of 7' 2 aires that the residents are anxious to reclaim from Little Shoal Bay so that a playground may be provided for the children in the locality who at the present time have to play on the street or on the beach when the tide is low. The whole work of surveying and preparing the plans of the proposed park area has been done by Mr. Fieldes free of charge, and 10 property owners, whose land abuts on to the bay, have given away their riparian rights without any compensation in the hope that eom?thing may be done, besides in many instances promising substantial donations towards the -ost- of the work. Mr. Heather, who will be, accompanied by Mr. Wallace, the Harbour member representing the district, and Mr. Hamer, the board'n engineer, agreed to inspect the site, tomorrow afternoon, when he hoped to meet the gentlemen who were taking an interest in the. master.
