PRODUCTION HAMPERED. TROUBLE WITH THE MEN. (Received May 31, 20 a.m.) London, May 30. The Manchester Guardian says that Mr. Lloyd George conferred witn a large gathering of engineering firms, who explained that their differences with the workmen arose oo the question of wages and bonuses. They said they could not accelerate production , to machinery capacity unless local regulations were suspended or altered. The trouble was chiefly in the. north. Some of the masters fear a big in l dustrial crisis is impending. The men in some shops distrust the masters, fearing the war stress will enable the disturbance of wages 3 and hours.
