The opening chapters of 6 new serial story appear in the columns of the-New Zealand Herald this morning. Thestory, which is from the pen of one of the rising American writers of fiction, is entitled "Bat Wing Bowles," and is a story of love and adventure on an Arizona cattle ranch. -' The scene throughout is vividly described in picturesque terms, and the plot is a bright and breezy one. peopled with delightful characters. Bat Wing Bowles, the hero, is an amazing young man who persuades people' to like him against their own inclinations, and his unfailing good humour cannot fail to make him a \ ipular figure with readers of the story.
