PRISONERS IN GERMANY.

AMERICAN CONSUL'S REPORT

CONDITIONS IMPROVED.

(Received May 19, 7.40 p.m.)

London, May 19.

An American Consul visited, 13 British prisoners in Cologne, who are suffering reprisals. He reports that they are in excellent health. Their conditions arc practically improved. They are confined in an old military prison, formerly used for delinquent German commissioned and non-commissioned officers. It is a gloomy, forbidding place, but is, approximately, clean. The cells are small and dark. The officers are supplied with the same food as other interned officers, and with reading and writing materials, and a bathroom. They are treated courteously by the warders.
