FROZEN MEAT EXPORTS.
STEAMER SPACE QUESTION. [BY TELEGRAPH.— ASSOCIATION'.] CnßiSTCiirßfii, Friday. The Christchnrch Meat Producers and Meat Exporters' Committee has received the following reply from Mr. Findlay, chairman of the New Zealand Overseas Shipping Committee, in Wellington, in connection with tho last appeal to inform local committee of tho basis on which the allocation for shipping spare for May was made:--" The committee has fully considered your telegram of yesterday, and is still of opinion that no useful purposo would be served by giving publicity to tho basis of the allocation of meat space per the steamers Zealandic, Mamari, Ruapeha, Turakina, and Indrabarah." These steamers will load at New Zealand ports during May, and of their total capacity Canterbury, Marlborough, and Otago have been allotted space equivalent to 132,000 freight carcases.
