TO-DAY'S ATTRACTIONS.

Coi.n and showery weather was experienced on Saturday, but this did not prevent many thousands of people from spending (in enjoyable holiday. Between 12,000 and 13,000 people attended the first day of the Auckland Racing Club's Autumn Meeting, the figures representing a slight falling off as compared with the same day of previous years. The ferry companies and the Northern Steamship Company received better patronage than on Good Friday, and week-end excursions and trips to the pleasure resorts in the harbour attracted large numbers of lioli--day-makers.

The railway traffic figures were not nearly so heavy as those recorded on Good Friday. Race trains conveyed 2629 passengers to Ellerslie, as against 2901 for the same day last year. The first express from Wellington on Saturday brought 220 passengers and tho second express 300. Out-ward traffic was slack, except in the case of the Rotorua train, which left at 10 a.m. with, 250 passengers. Sporting attractions included the New Zealand University lawn tennis championships, the Dominion Bowling Association's Easter tournament, the Auckland provincial golf championship, and a cricket match between teams representing the Auckland and South Auckland Associations.

The programme for to-day includes tlio second day of the Auckland Racing Club's 'Autumn Meeting, and the continuation of the golf, cricket, bowling, and tennis fixtures commenced on Saturday. In addition, the New Zealand University athletic tournament will bo held on the Domain, the proceeds being in aid of the Auckland Belgian Relief Fund. There will be sports meetings at Papakura and Tii Puke. The usual seaside excursions will be made.
