The steamer Maheno reached port at 8 ft.m. yesterday from Sydney., thus completing the 1281 mile journey in the creditable time of three days 17 hours. She brought mails, passengers, and 850 tons oi cargo, the latter .including 250 tons for transhipment to the Atua for Island ports, lhe cargo also includes transhipments from the steamers Orontcs, Dimboola, Indien, Mata* ram, Poriod, Walcatipu, liyreena, Katooinba, and Indarra. The Maheno's departure for Sydney has been postponed until 6,30 p.m. to-morrow. The New Zealand Shipping Company's chartered steamer Borderdale is expected to arrive at Auckland to-morrow evening from St. John, Canada, via Melbourne and Sydney. Tho vessel is bringing the usual quantity of Canadian merchandise, and also, about 10,000 bushels of wheat, for New Zealand. Slio will afterwards go to Wellington, and then to Lyttelton and Dunedin, to complete her discharge. Tho Shaw, Savill, and Albion liner Pakehii is expected to arrivo at Whangarei on Wednesday from Brisbano to commence Homeward loading.
