Corporation Notices. r\EVONPOKT BOROUGH COUNCIL. Notice is hereby given that at a Special Meeting of the Devosrcrt Borough Council, held on the 9th day of March, 1915, it was resolved by way a? Special Order that the Dcvonport Borough Council, acting on behalf of the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Devonport, make ft By-law. under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, the Public Health Act, 1908, the Cemeteries Act, 1908, and the Acts amending the same respectively, and of all and every other power in that behalf contained in any other Act, enabling tho said Council in that oehalf, tho object or purport of which Bylaw is as follows: — 'To repo I the existing By-laws in force in tho Borough To provide for the authentication and service of notices by the Council. To provide for the appointment of inspector.) To proscribe a penalty for any breach of this By-law IN RESPECT OF BUILDINGS. To prescribe generally the regulations un-'cr which buildings within the Bonugh may be erected, added to, renewed, or repaired, and requiring plans and siociricaticns of such proposed work '.o be lodged, and a permit for the same to be obtained. To provide for the inspection o- such work, and authorising the Council to compel tho removal of any work begun in contraction of the Bylaws. To require all buildirgs hereafter erected within the Borough to bo on allotments having a frontage to some street or private street, and to prescribe the minimum area of allotments on which buildings may hereafter bo erected, according to the purpose for which such building is to be used. To forbid the sale or- disposal of any land on a part of which any building is erected, so as to leave such building without tho urea and frontage prescribed in the By-laws-Tj forbid the use of old or unsuitable material in erecting buildings. To pres:ribe tho distance which buildings may be erected from boundaries of allotments from other buildings, and irom tho street boundary. To prescribe the naterial with which buildings may be constructed, added to. or repaired, and also the dimensions or* certain material so used, and to provide for tho ventilation and lighting of buildings. To prescribe the position with respect to other buildings in which stables and cowshods may be erected, and tho material to bo used, and the conditions to be observed respecting the use of eome. To divide the Borough into an inner area and an outer area, and to require tuo external walls, all party walls and chimneys of buildings, additions, and repairs within the innej area to bo in brick, and to prescribe the dimensions of party walls. To prescribe the conditions under which verandahs ever streets may be erected, and the material and build to be adopted. To forbid advertisements and signs, etc., on verandahs without the Council's consent. To prescribe the material, method of structure, and conditions governing the erection of chimneys, chimney stacks, tad smoke pipes, ovens, furnaces, and forges. To require 'he removal of any building, wall, or erection encroaching on any street. To forbid the uso of kahikatea timber in the election of any building; also the erection of any tent without permission To authorise the inspection by the Council of all buildings in course of erection. To fix a . chedul© of fees to be paid to the Council with respect to the erection or alteration of any building. ELECTRIC LIGHTING. To require all electric light installations to be in accordance with the requirements and conditions o: tho Fire Underwriters' Association. IN RESPECT OF STREETS ANE PUFLIC PLACES. To forbid the deposit of building material in streets without permission. To require a license to bo obtained to erect a scaffolding or hoarding, and all material, scaffolding, and other obstructions to be lighted. To compel * pror.erty-owners to fence street frontages when required by the Council so to do. To forbid the uso of biTbwire in fences alon? the frontage to any street or public right-of-way. To require hedges and overhanging trees to bo trimmed. To forbil vehicles being taken across footways or water channels except over a crossing or upon obtaining a permit. To rogulato the conditions under which crossings will be constructed, and providing for tho maintenance thereof. To forbid vehicles to stand on crossings. To provide for the constitution of crossings at the intersection of private and public streets. To forbid allowing refuse liquids from factorios and other premises to run on to streets or offensive matter be ing spilled on streets. To imposo a penalty on the owner of cattle found straying on any street or public place. To prohibit tho ill-treatment of any cattle or animals. To fix the hours during which bulls, horses, or bullocka may be driven through the streets. To require dogs and other animals to be kept under proper control. To require proper management and control of vehicloj in streets and public placer. To require that carts, waggons, and drays shall boar owners' names. To prohibit the leaving of machines on streets, and also the leaving of vehicles unattended on streets. To prohibit furious and negligent driving and riding. To require that bicycles shall have lamps and bolls attached. To prohibit the unauthorised removal ot sand, shell, shinglo, or rock from any foreshore 'or beach. To prohibit the removal or destruction of any trees or shrubs from beaches or foreshores. To prohibit tho deposit of rubbish on beaches, the exercising of horses at other than a walking pace thereon, and generally to provide for the pro per control of beaches and foreshores, and tho good rule of persons using the same. To provide for tho "umbering of houses and buildings. To forbid any person to throw dead animils into any watercourse, to remove or injure any survey mark, notice board, tree, shrub, lamp fence, building, or other property of the Council. GENERAL PROVISIONS FOR THE GOOD RULE AND GOVERNMENT OF THE BOROUGH To forbid any person burning rubbish ° i r3 L to endor g er any building, or to light any fire in the open air between 6 pm. and G a.m. without Councils permssion. To forbid any person to deposit any straw shavings, and other inflammable material in proximity to any building. To forbid the kccrin%' of goats and swine in the Boicugh. To forbid the discharging of firearms, and the throwing of stones and missiles, tin unauthorised placing of advertisements, and also the playing of sanies in any public place, to the annoyance of any person. To forbid that any animal shall bo exposed for salo in any public place. To forbid goods to be exposed for sale in streets, and goods or cases being allowed to remain thereon. To forbid loitering in streets, so as to cause an obstruction, and also singing, preaching, and other acts in Btrents. whereby annoyarce to others may be caused To forbid mischievious conduct, Buch as injuring door-plates, lamps, or fire alarms, or wantonly annoying an * inhabitant. J To forbid any person to expose for sale any food unfit for human consumption. To regulate the storing of explosives. To prohibit indecent conduct of everv description. J To forbid any person to expectorate on any footpath To forbid any person to keep or manage a house of ill-fame To forbid the wearing of hatpins, which may bo a source of danger to others. IN RESPECT OF SANITATION. To forbid the burial of nightsoil. oftensivo matter or dead animals within tho Borough except by permission of the Council; the deposit of such matter, or any rubbish, on any street, foreshore, or vacant land. To regulate the construction and maintenaico of privies, and the removal ot nightsoil. To requ.re backyards of a cortain area to be asphalted.
