THE AUSTRALASIAN ARMY.
• SIR. I. HAMILTON'S PRAISE.
WHAT A YEAR HAS WROUGHT.
BENEFITS GAINED IN EGYPT.
(Received April 2, 7.30 p.m.)
Sydney, April 2.
Mr- C. E. W. Bean, official correspondent with the Australian expeditionary force, cables that while conversing with Sir lan Hamilton after an inspection of the Australasian troops, he asked the general if he noticed any change since he inspected tho men a year ago at the other end of the world.
Sir lan Hamilton replied that the men were a most gratifying sight. They were now trained troops, steady and disciplined. Their officers understood how to give orders, and not merely suggestions. He was sure the men had grown since their arrival in Egypt. Hard work, the open-air life, and the splendid climate had made them bigger and stronger men.
