DARDANELLES DEFENCES.
VON PER GOLTZ'S BOAST.
"NO FEAR OF ATTACK." (Received April 2, 7.30 p.m) London, April 1. Reports from Bucharest state that General von der Goltz, in an interview prior to his departure for Berlin, declared that the defences of the Dardanelles had proved more effective than was expected, and the new attack was awaited without fear. The more ships ' that attacked them the better he would be satisfied. The Turkish ammunition factories, he added, were sufficiently developed to keep an army of half-a-million supplied. In Petrograd von der Goltz's journey is thought to be connected with the crisis in Constantinople. It is stated that he insists that the Turks should devote their entire strength to the defence of the capital. GeD?ral von Sanders continues to issue orders for the continuation of the campaigns in the Caucasus and Syria, but von der Goltz hopes to persuade the Kaiser to overrule von Sanders.
