The One-tree Hill Road Board met on Thursday evening. Present—Messrs H. Dobbie, chairman, H. Shrewsbury, C. L. Slyfield, T. Rowe, and A. Payne. It was decided to inform the Auckland Trotting Club that it would have to connect its property with the drainage system in accordance with the by-laws ; also to make connections where propertyowners had failed to do so and charge them with the cost of the work. Mr. H. H. Metcalfe informed the board that he had examined the stone from Messrs. Murphy and Wilson's property and found that it was mostly of good quality. It was agreed to inform the owners that the board would commence taking the stone next month. The foreman was instructed to report regarding necessary repairs to the Manukau Road. The St. John Ambulance Association was granted permission to tako up a collection in the district on April 10. 1 The Valuation Department informed the board that a > revaluation had recently been made of certain properties belonging to Mr. Robert Smith, which were situated in the One-tree Hill district. The capital value had been reduced by £1315, the unimproved value by £1190 and the improvements by £125. Strictly speaking the reductions should take effect from April 1 for rating purposes, but as the properties were overvalued in 1913, the Department recommended that the board, if it had the • legal power, should ante date the reductions to the date of the revaluation in 1913. The clerk stated that the board bad not power to remit rates. No further action was taken.

The Auckland provincial executive of the Belgian Fund wrote to tie board stating that Mr. H. E. Partridge had presented his magnificent Lindauer collection of Maori pictures to tie Belgian Fund. If £10,000 was subscribed to the fund the pictures would be handed over to the people of Auckland and placed in the art gallery. The executive, therefore, wanted to know if the board wo'uld be prepared to subscribe £260, which would be its proportion of the cost, based on the Government valuation of the district. Consideration of the matter was Oeft over till the next meeting.
