NEW FREEZING WORKS.
i TWO IN CANTERBURY. [by telegraph.—own correspondent.] Christchtjbch, Thursday. If the proposals put forward for the building of the two new freezing works in North Canterbury have a practical effect, as it seems they will, the industry should be very well provided for in the near future, say by the latter end of next season. It is stated that for some time past a successful canvass of the North Canterbury district has been made with the object of raising funds for tho establishment of a frozen meat works to bo run on co-operative lines. A company is now being formed on cooperative lines with a large capital to establish the works. It is understood that the proposed company will be anonbuying one, but will offer special facilities to shareholders in regard to freezing space, and that arrangements will be made for space to be available to exporters handling shareholders' stock. Messrs. Borthuick and Sons have alio announced that they intend to erect an up-to-date freezing works somewhere between Christchurch and Kaiapoi.
