LAWN TENNIS.
NOTES AND COMMENTS.
The wet weather during last week made most of tho tennis grounds round Auckland practically unplayable, and 011 Saturday ( last there was littlo or no tennis played. The West End grounds woro an exception, for as usual they dr.ed up remarkably quickly, and although they were naturally a littlo heavy the club decided to proceed with .its combined handicap event. Tho entries were large, and after interesting play Thornc and Miss Peterson turned out tho winners.
From all accounts a good many players are going out of town for Easter, and tho Tc Aroha mid Rotorua tournaments promise to bo well patronised. Tho university tournament will be playod on the Reniuera Clubs courts during the holidays. In connection with the Plimnier-Hall Company's tour en behalf of the Belgian Fund, tennis players are reminded that Friday week, April 9, has been set aside as a tennis evening. Tho assistant-secretary of the association has the matter in hand, and already tickets have been sent to tho secretaries of tho various clubs
