THE LEAGUE GAME.

CITY ROVERS' CLUB. The annual meeting of the City Rovors' Football Club attracted an attendance of 40 members, Mr. G. Hunt presiding. Eleven now players were elected. The annual report referred to the fact that £0 members of tho club had offered their services to the country. Tho balance-sheet showed a credit balanco of £13 6s 6d. Officers for the or.suing year were elected as follows:—President, Mr. J. H. Gunson; dclegato to Auckland League, Mr. R. W. Pollock; committee, Messrs. 15. Board) A. Asher, T. Dixon, J. Kielty, C. Huntley, T. Avery, J. Maxwell; secrotary and treasurer) Mr. E. K. Asher; club captain, Mr. A. Asher. Mr. G. Hunt presented to the fourth grade a sot of club jerseys in appreciation of their winning tho fourth grade championship. The fourth grade presented to A. Asher an enlargement of the team, as a token of appreciation for his services as coach last season.

OTAHUHU CLUB'S MEETING. The third annual meeting of the Otahuhu Football Club was held in the Otahuhu 'üblio Hall last week. Thero was an attendance of about sevonty members. Tho treasurer's balance-sheet showed that the finances of the club were in a very satisfactory state, the credit balanco in the bank running wolf into two figures. In opening the meeting the chairman, Mr. W. Graham,referred to the fact that several members of tho club had left in response to the Empire's call. Ho congratulated those members in their action, and he congratulated tho club in having such worthy representatives. Ho hoped that the present war would not cause the abandonment of football- Ho was an Englishman, and he hoped a patriotic one, and he did not consider it unpatriotic to play football; rather ho considered it an excellent means of keeping the men fit. . The following officers were elected for tho ensuing year:—Patron, the Hon. W. F. Massoy and the Hon. F. W. Lang; president, Mr. J. Williams; club captain, Mr. Peter Miller; hon. secretary, Mr. W. J. McManuS; hon. treasurer, Mr. Goo. Jackson; selectors, Messrs. O'Conncll and J. Stannaway. A strong executive' committee was set up, and the opinion was freely expressed that tho coming season will be a good one for the club. Mr. Jas. .T. McAnulty, who was last year secretary and- a popular senior player of the Otahuhu Club, has gone to the front, and tho club has thereby sustained an almost irreparable loss. It has been fortunate, however. in securing for the secretaryship the services of Mr. W. J. \McManus. Mr. McManus is a well-known' athlete, and -in his new position should nrovo an acquisition, having the necessary ability) energy, and enthusiasm, combined with popularity.
