SALVATION ARMY'S WORK.

LIBERAL DONATIONS

A liberal response has already been made to the appeal for contributions to the •Salvation Army war emergency fund, which was initiated by Commissioner H. C. Hodder, with a view to raising £10.000 in the Dominion towards the expense of housing 2000 refugees from Belgium, for whom the Salvation Army has undertaken to provide. Half the sum proposed will be raised'within the ranks of the army in New Zealand, and a campaign is being conducted to obtain the balance of the fund from people interested in the army's effort for the relief of distressed Belgians. About half the total amount in view has already been raised. The campaign in the North Island is being conducted by Adjutant W. S. Winton, of Wellington, and a considerable sum ba6 already been subscribed in respect to his appeal in the Waipawa district and in Auckland, during the past week". White, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. St. Hill, James Smith (Auckland), George McKenzie (Auckland), and T. Peacock (Auckland), £50 each ; Mr. and Mrs. G. Winstone (Auckland), £40 ; Well-wisher, £50 ; H. R.
