Tenders for road ■works in various parts of the county were received and accepted as follows:Turna-Kerepehi Road, V. L. Bagnall, £223 4s; Puriri Wharf Read, F. MeKenrie, £60: Kauaerangs-Tairna Road, J. Dufty. £160; Tairua-Hikutaia Road, no tender accepted : Thameskawau Road, H. Wenzlick. £33 19s; Crosbia Settlement Road, T. Barbalirh £47 15s : Waitakaruru Stream Road W Peters, £73 10?. The Coromandel county clerk wrote acknowledging receipt of a letter from the Thames Comity promising definite action, in the direction of recoveiv of revenue from the timber values and stating that his council's solicitor had been instructed to take action. H. H. Adams wrote stating that he intended to work the old May Queen battery continuously and complaining that he j had been refused the use of the water from the race, presumably because it was required fo,- other industries than raining. He pointed out that the race was origin ally constructed solely in the interest* of the mining industry and mining bad the first call on the waier supplv. and be claimed the right 'x> be supplied with •water for motive power at his plant in preference to any other industry. A request from the Waitangi Company sor water ' or motive power for their netbattery was also considered and it was deeded to grant the supplv asked for. The secretary of the Thames Harbour Board wrote acknowledging receipt of plans of the proposed Kcpu Ferry and stating that the board's decision on the matter would be given as coon as it was ascertained what effect the erection of tho approaches would have on tho d/.-pth of wajtei at the.
