VISIT TO SUMATRA.
" ARMED TO THE TEETH."
DESIGNS ON BRITISH SHIPS.
London, January 15,
A letter received from Sumatra states that the schooner Ayesha, on board which 40 men off the Emden escaped from C'ocos Island, after raiding the cable station, has reached Padang, on the coast of Sumatra and that the men have purchased cattle and provisions. They left the same day.
The men are armed to the teeth, and possess thice machine-guns. They expressed their intention of capturing some British steamer in the night, and then making raids on other British vessels. They intended proceeding eventually to East Africa.
