NO WHEAT OFFERING.

Since carnivaj week business in the grain and produce market has opened very quietly. No wheat is offering, and very few oats. Oatsheaf chaff is in fair demand, and the price has firmed to £3 3s 6d, as there is only a limited amount offering. Potatoes have advanced to £210 a per ton at country stations. When the price

got down to 20s per ton the trade was; neglected, as it was not expected to improve again, and stocks were allowed to run down. The severe frosts, which cut down the crops, especially in the North Island, have renewed the demand for old' potatoes, and the price has been raised to secure supplies.
