CITY COUNCIL'S SUPPORT.

The question of utilising the surplus : trout from Rotorua and Taupo as a food supply for Auckland was referred to atthe meeting of the City Council last even- '' ing. -Mr. A. J. Entrican drew attention to a petition to Parliament from Taupo residents urging that they should lie allowed to catch the surplus trout and send the fish to Auckland, where it would prove a valuable adjunct to the food supply. j Mr. Entrican spoke strongly in favour of j tho proposal, and said the trout, after ! being smoked, could be distributed from i the municipal fish market. He moved that j the council support the petitioners in their I efforts to give the public the benefit of i the surplus trout as an article of food. | Mr. P. M. Maekay, in seconding the 1 motion, said that tons of trout had been ; destroyed at ltotorua during the past 12 'months. This was a waste of good food | which could be distributed in Auckland, ;or any other city.
