SUCCESSFUL DEFENCE.

Sydney, October 24. The Australian Gaslight Company, charged with supplying gas of insufficient candle-power, pleaded that it was compelled to use coal below the usual standard owing to the troubles at the Newcastle coliieries. The charge was dismissed, tho Court holding that the company did its best under the circumstances.
