COAL FOR THE ENEMY.

SUPPLIES AT MANILA.

BRITISH CRUISER ACTIVE.

TWO COLLIERS CAPTURED.

(Received October 26, 2 a.m.) Sydney, October 25. Passenger's by the Taiyuan report that when they departed from Manila on October 6 there were 15 coal-laden steamers there awaiting a chance to slip away, presumably to coal the German warships. A few days previously two colliers, calling themselves' the Posig and the Tunnefels, each with 6000 tons of coal, were captured by a British auxiliary cruiser. The business is mostly conducted by German or Filipino firms. One sent three shipments to the German warships, and it is an open secret that he coaled the Emden.

The Governor, Mr. Harrison, remonstrated with these firms, and guarantees were given that they would not re-export coal or frozen meat.
