NOBLE WARRIORS.
LORD CAVENDISH KILLED. FAMOUS DUKE WOUNDED. (Received October 25, 8.20 p.m.) London, October 24. Captain Lord John Cavendish . was killed during the fighting in g France. The Duke of Roxburghe has been wounded, and is nov,- in hospital. Captain Lord John Spencer Cavendish, D.5.0.. of the. First Life Guards, was 39 years old. and was a brother -of the Duke of Devonshire. He joined the Guards in 1897, and during the- South African war he was present at the battles of Colenso, Spion-kop, VaaJkranz, and Pieter's Hill - at the relief of Lady-smith. 1' Henry .John Jnnes-Ker is the eighth i Duke of Koxbnrs;he, and is 38 years of age. Ho was A.D.C. to the present King when the latter, as the Duke of York, | visited Australia and New Zealand in 1901 and he served with the Household Cavalry Composite Regiment- during the South African war; The dukedom was I created in 1707.
