The. annual meeting of. : the-Auckland L > Rowing Association was held in the Amateur fcS Sports Clubroom on Thursday evening, vMr.'h;* J. Clark, president, occupying the chair. 1 TklS; meeting was well attended, the country clubs ■" in particular being strongly 'represented??:'?'; Many matters in connection with last yeir'i jr;operations were keenly criticised, and in con-';- 3 ' sequence' the proceedings were protracted, and the meeting did not end until just before gi midnight. -■-,- .■■''.' -./',"'•";;: The annual report and balance-sheet stated s| that there were now. 15 clubs under the jurisdiction of the association, Otakulni and Whakatane baring affiliated .since.' tie-last'j | report; was presented. v . Four regattas l , wore, held during the season—Russell, Wha'ngatei, KZ.A.R.A. championships, _ and A.R.A, Easter Regatta. Ngaruawahia ; Regatta wis abandoned owing to the, committee refusing , to comply with A.R.A. ruleß, while-:Mercer "-< Regatta was merged into the New Zealand||| championships, and the Rotorus Easter or-1 nival was abandoned.• The association, after a lapse of fivo years, again had the pleasuri of conducting the i N.Z.A.R.A-. i chmpionshipj'' s 't at Mercer on January 29, 1914, in conjunction thA with the Mercer Regatta : Association. g .In 11 spite of the record prize-money'offered,' the . entries from Southern, clubs were i disappoint-K;S ingly ' small, and there were no ! crews »t ill from the South Island. i' ; However,'; a very successful function was held, '.'the '.visiting;'". oarsmen in particular ■ commenting 5 very | favourably on the excellent courso afforded gg by thß Waikato River, and the president of Em the N.R.A.R.A., Mr.. John Clark, spoke in- j complimentary terms, of : the excellent .iT. arrangements made. The i regatta, «- mainly ".• owing to the poor entries, was not a financial | success, but the deficit was only small Tho | financial statement and .balance-sheet dis- 1 closed a satisfactory state of affairs,' not? 1 standing that a certain amount of difficult? had been experienced ;in collecting regatta fees, and the large drain on the association's || resources in transferring' £50 to the chiffl' pionship regatta funds.
