The allies' shells, dropping among tho German gun?, inflict terrible losses, and the battlefields are strewn with dead. Nevertheless fresh German troops continue to arrive. The Germans have been slightly driven back from Middelkerke, where the allies' positions arc strengthened by entrenchments and inundations. A French squadron is now supporting the British fleet in tho naval bombardment. The British naval gun-fire killed General Von Trip and his staff near Middelkerke.
