HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

A well-attexded meeting of the committee of the Auckland Horticultural Society was held on Wednesday evening, when several matters of interest to horticulturists were dealt with. The secretary reported that 20 entries have been received for the A. M. Myers cottage garden class. It is hoped that the work of judging the gardens, which will be continued periodically till April, may be begun before the end of the month. Judges and stewards were appointed for the combined Rose and Children's Flower Show, to bo held on the 20th and 21st of next month, for which upwards of 1000 entries have already been received. Messrs. C. R. Anderson and W. Goldie were appointed judges of children's gardens. The Auckland City Council's exhibit of cyclamens and nrimulas made at the society's spring show was awarded first place in tho new ; class for special championship awards instituted at the beginning of the present season. Arrangements were also made for a meeting of members and their friends on Thursday evening next, the 29th inst., in the Horticultural Hal], when Mr. J. P. Kalaugher will deliver an address on school gardens. A show of seasonable flowers will bo made on this occasion, in which members are invited to assist. The meeting will bo entirely free to the public.
