BRANCH. ] TO THE MEMBERS. _ J All members J tho Nary League c should use every moment of their lime to i employ their energies in subserving the : cause of the defence of their country and . tile triumph of our arms, both on sea and - on land, There will bo no lack of patriotism, but many people are sometimes at a < loss to know piecisely in what way their eer- 1 vices may best be utilised- It. IS therefore . urged upon every ember o'. the Navy League: — (1) That he or she should become, for the time being, an active and energetic, advocate of recruiting for Lord Kitchener's Army Every employer should bo prepared to make great sacrifice to respond to Lord Kit- - chener'a call. Every person who can . eierc se local influence in any district should become an earnest pro- ; pagandist in calling men to the colours. Ladies, especially, with thai irrestistible tou::h of sympathetic in- . spiration in their power of appeal, t-hould canvass and work strenuously to brin„' forward young men to Have their country from the terrors of indescribable tyranny. (2) Every member should seize every opportunity of rendering practical help 10 the families and dependents of sailors and soldiers who have taken up arms, so that the families of the men who work with their hands shall > feel they are no', neglected or forgotten. (3) Members can give such help as is pos- j sihle to local otganisations working in the interests of sailors and soldiers, j; and it is especially desirablo that the collection of articles, which may bring | cheer and comfort to men at sea, , may be organised and forwarded . through the regular channels to the ■ Admiralty. Work of this kind, and much more, can be done by every loyal subject of the Crown. but BE IT ALWAYS REMEMBERED, THAT SINGLE POSITIVE ACTION, NO MATTER HOW SMALL, IS WORTH VOLUMES OF EMPTY TALK AND HELPLESS ADVICE. Every evening, when the family is gathered together, let them all be animated by the spirit of Nelson's touching and beautiful prayer before Trafalgar:— I " May the Great God, whom I worship, grant to my country, and for the benefit of Europe in general, a great and glorious victory; and may no rnU.'-jmduct in anyone tarnish it; and may humanity, after victory, be tho predominant feature in the British Fleet. For myself, individually, I commit my life to Him who made mo. and may His blessing light upon my endeavours for serving my country faithfully. To Him I resign myself and tho just cause which is entrusted to me to defend. Amen. Amen. Amen." For and on behalf of the Navy League, A. M. PICKFORD, Hon. Secretary Auckland Branch.
