SCRIPTURE EXAMINATIONS. LISTS OF AWARDS. The results of the examination in Scripture knowledge, organised by the Auckland Sunday-school Union and held in I August, are now to hand. Fifteen hunj dred and thirty candidates sat for examination. Where possible schools were grouped together for efficiency of supervision. In the case of distant and isolated schools recourse- was had to the best local assistance available. The area covered by the examination included portions of the provinces of Taranaki and Hawke's Bay. The examination was based upon some of the miracles and parables as recorded in the Synoptic Gospels. In addition to this, candidates over 21 years were examined in elementary pedagogy, the text-book being "The Pupil," one of the volumes of the Canadian teachers' training course. For the purposes of the examination the candidates were arranged in seven grades. Those receiving the three highest marks in each grade were awarded honours prizes. All candidates securing off per cent, of marks also received prizes I hose who secured from 70 to 84 per cent, received an honours certificate; 55 to 69 per. cent, entitled the holder to a firstdaw certificate; while those who had secured 40 to 54 per cent, of marks received a second-class certificate.
