GUNBOAT SELLS CHEAP.
NOT NEEDED FOR FIGHTING RUSE BY THE GERMANS. Shanghai, September 29. A German gunboat from Tsingtau was off Canton at the outbreak of hostilities. She was entrusted to the chief engineer, the majority of the crew having gone to Tsingtau. Ono morning she disappeared, dropped some guns and ammunition overboard, and returned to Canton, where she was sold to a German firm for 22d. Now she is registered as a merchantman.
