FUND STILL GROWING.

TOTAL TO DATE £46,446.

The Auckland Citizens' Patriotic Fund, ! constituting cash received and amounts to be paid in, totals £46,446 &s 7d. In connection with the relief of local distress the Mayor stated yesterday that tho sub-committee set up "to investigate the question feared there would bo overlapping. There wore at least 12 institutions in Auckland doing this work in addition to the Charitable Aid Board. It was considered, therefore, that systematic action was essential. With this object in view the committee intended to make further inquiries and report to the next meeting of the general committee. Yesterday's contributions included £2 10s, being the first of a series of monthly contributions which some of the farmers at Whnngarata intend to forward. There were also two donations of £100 each, and one of £50 from Bishop Geary. The additional subscriptions were as follows : — £ s. d.
