ENEMIES' MANUFACTURES.
PROHIBITION IN CONTRACTS
AUSTRALIAN SUGGESTION.
Adelaide, September 10.
At a meeting of the Chamber of Manufactures it was resolved, with a view to encouraging the Australian manufacturers to increase their plants for the purpose of making goods previously imported from Germany and Austria, that in all Government contracts there should be a clause prohibiting the use of German and Austrian articles for a period of at least 21 years.

Mr. Poutsma, one of the Labour leaders deported from South Africa, who recently returned to London from Berlin, informs the Daily Citizen that when he left, the German capital on August 27, the authorities were not allowing the publication of anything likely to dishearten the people. Notices were posted forbidding the relatives of those killed to wear mourning. The mobilisation proclamations had been printed in 1912, and the alteration in the date was made in blue pencil.
