LARGE GERMAN' REINFORCEMENTS IN EAST PRUSSIA
VIENNA BEING MADE READY FOR A SIEGE.
REFUGEES FLOCK IN AND FAMINE THREATENS.
Petroohad (St. Petersburg), September 9. Tfc is estimated that the Germans transferred to East Prussia number nearly 200,000.
The Government has begun to fortify Vienna, and arrangements have been made to inundate the low-lying lands round the city. Refugees from Galicia are flocking into Vienna and making the situation more desperate.
A Milan correspondent states that Vienna is menaced with famine. Serbs are torn to pieces in the streets, and all Serb shops are being sacked. Two Russian newspaper correspondents were shot in their rooms by the police, and five foreign journalists were imprisoned. A Bucharest message states that there are great rejoicings at the Russian victories in Galicia. These have increased Roumanian enthusiasm for tie Entente.
