STEAMER JANUS ON FIRE.
CARGO FOR NEW ZEALAND.
[BY TELEGRAM.— ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Saturday. Advice has been received by Messrs. Dalgety and Co. that tho steamer Janus, bound from Calcutta to Australia, is on fire. She is loaded with tea and woolpacks. Tho vessel is owned by the British India Company.
The Janus is a steel screw steamer of 4824 tons gross. She was built in 1010 at Nowcastlo by the Palmers Co., Ltd., for the British- Steam Navigation Co., Ltd., her port of registry being Melbourne. Tho vessel is bound from Calcutta to Australia;} ports only.
