On Saturday the accused went into tho witness-box, swearing that he thought Tracoy had procured tho jam in an ordinary way of business. Ho denied Tracoy's allegations about the £50 bribe. Both Mr. J. R. Reed, K.C., for the defence, and the Hon. J. A. Tole, K.C., for the Crown, addressed the jury at some length.
