CAVALRYMEN SURPRISED.

CHARGE WITHOUT FIRING.

London, August 27.

Describing a cavalry skirmish a participator says: " \Yc came plump upon some Cuirassiers coming round the corner in a little village. It was an absoluto surprise to both parties. Before you could wink we flew at each other. There wasn't any firing. It was absolutely a cavalry charge just as you see in pictures. The horses were going ' hell for leather-' Every man was sitting hunched lip hoping that lie wouldn't get his knees crushed by his fellows riding alongside him. Lighter though we were, we went at pace which more than compensated for our inferior weight, and smashed them."
