ATTEMPT TO WRECK CANADIAN WIRELESS STATION.
MEN FIRE AT OPERATORS AND ESCAPE.
AERIAL CUT AND INSTALLATION DAMAGED.
Ottawa, August 15. An attempt has been made to wreck the Great Lakes wireless station at Port Arthur, Ontario.
Two men fired at the operators, and then effected their escape, first cutting the aerial and doing other damage to the installation.
Port Arthur is a town and harbour on Lake Superior, in the Thunder Bay District of Ontario, and is the lake terminus of the Grand Trunk Pacific and the Canadian Northern railways. Lumber and minerals are shipped from tho surrounding district, and vast quantities of grain from tho farther west.
