SPONTANEOUS RESPONSE.

SUM OF £3672 IN HAND.

Subscriptions to the Herald Patriotic Fiwd arc coming iin from all parts of tho country. Distinct* as far distant as Taupo and Whangarei, Hrfensville, Howick, Rotorua, and many townships in the Waikato are represented. The Herald Fu\n now totals £3672 17s lOd, of which £3000 has been forwarded to the citizens' fund.

Contributions to the fund may bo sent to the Heiiald Office, Auckland, or paid direct at the Herald Office, where- a subscription list will be found. The amounts collected will from time to time be transferred to the Auckland Patriotic Fund.
