Business was quiet on the sharemarket yesterday. In standard stocks Taupiri Coals were done at 20s 3d. Auckland Gas 1 changed hands at 24s 3d. Wellington, Thursday. No business was done to-day on the Stock Exchange. Union Steam snares (ordinary) were inquired for at 22a but sellers wore silent, while the some company's preference shares were on offer at 20s 3d but found no buyers. Westport Coals wet* offered at 29s with no response while 2s 4d was. bid for Westport Stocktons but there were no sellers. In mining stocks there were r.o bidders at the afternoon call, and sellers asked as follows New Sylvia, lOd ; Swastika, 3s 9d ; ; Talisman Consolidated, 2& 3d; Waihi, 30s 6d; Waihi Grand Junction, 21s 6d.
