THE COUNTRY DISTRICTS. LIBERAL CONTRIBUTIONS. FAREWELLS TO THE MEN. Tho country centres of the Auckland Province are ringing with military preparations, and liberal responses are being made to the appeal for funds. The first detachment of tile 6th Hauraki Regiment, who are to join the expeditionary force, were given a public farewell at Paeroa, addresses being given by Colonel Porritt, Major Browne, and Archdeacon Hackett. Wiltshire, T. Wilson, W. Young. A meeting has been held at Paeroa of ex-members of the old Ohinemuri Rifle Volunteers, for the purpose of forming a rcservo corps. It was decided to form a rifle corps, to be called the Old No. 1 Ohinemuri Rifle Club, and 18 mombcrs gave their names in. Captain A. C. Hubbard was appointed commander. , To Aloha's Quota. A most enthusiastic send-off was, accorded the members of tho Te Aroha .Army Service Corps yesterday. Fully 2000 people, headed by the Municipal Band, marched to tho station. A street collection was made to day, when nearly £200 was subscribed. At a public meeting it was decided to make an effort to raise £500 in To Aroha, the- money to bo given to Lady Liverpool's Patriotic Fund. Hamilton Stirred. Tho first Wakato contribution to tho expeditionary force left Hamilton yesterday afternoon for the central camp at Auckland. Tho names of tho men are as follows:—A Squadron : . Sergeant- F. Tho men entrained at Frankton, where they were given a hearty send-off. Volunteers continue to arrive at Hamilton. Tho remount and live stock depot, which -has been established at Frankton, has been taken over by the local squadron of tho Legion of Frontiersmen, so as to allow all the territorials to go to the front. Donations to the v various funds at Hamilton axe coming in freely, the manager of tho. Ruaknra farm of instruction having given a year's Ralary, while each of tho cadets contributed a month's wages. The Ladies' Committee is working strenuously both in sewing and collecting. One group yesterday collected over £100. ';, Armed guards are- now stationed on the Hamilton railway bridge sight and day.
