RUSSIAN TROOPS FIGHTING.
OPERATIONS ON FRONTIERS SUCCESS OF GERMAN ARMS. Times end Sydney Sun Services. (Received August 12, 5,15 p.m.) The Hague, August 11. The German Legation states that the German forces have driven back the Russian frontier forces, and destroyed a cavalry brigade at Soldau, a town in the south-west of East Prussia. The Germans are also said to have scattered an infantry division near Insterburg, in the same province. East Prussia is declared to be free from the enemy. The German losses are described as slight. Czenstochowa, Wielun, and other Russian frontier places have been occupied by the Germans, their entrance being cheered by roles. Czenstochowa is a town in Russian Poland, of 53,650 inhabitants. It is situated 143 miles south-west of Warsaw, on the railway between that city and Cracow, in Austrian Poland. Wielun is a smaller town, of 5700 inhabitants, about 40 miles north-west of Czeustochowa. AUSTPJANS DRIVEN BACK. *<*.■ FRONTIER TOWN EVACUATED. St. Petersburg, August 11. Several successes have been gained by Russian troops in the Galician frontier. They have compelled the Austrians to evacuate Radzivlov, a small town on the Russian side of the border. ____________
