FORCES IN ALSACE.
FRENCH LEAVE MULHAUSEN RETIRE TO THE HEIGHTS. Paris, August 11. Owing to the superior strength of the Germans in Southern Alsace, the French have been compelled to retire from Mulhausen, which they seized on Saturday. They have now taken up a strong position in tho highlands in the neighbour-, hood. The report that the French troops had occupied Colmar, 30 miles northwards of Mulhausen, has proved to be incorrect.
