Std.vet, August 11. The Inter-State Commission has resumed its sittings. The president stated that sawmillers and others had suggested that the same duties should be imposed on New Zealand timber* as New Zealand imposed on. Queensland *;iml>ere. On tho other hand, applications had been Teceived in favour of a reduction or tho abolition of tho duties on white pine for making butter boxes, and kauri for brushwork. A representative of tho Sawmillers' Association asked for an increase on New Zealand timber according to size. Another witness favoured white pine, undressed, being admitted free.
