ORGANISING INDUSTRIES.

FIRST MOBILISATION OVER.

GENEROUS GUN-MAKER.

Paris, August 10.

The first military mobilisation is now over, and more trains are available for tho use of civilians.

The Government is setting about organising the agricultural and other industries, to enable the national life to proceed with the least inconvenience.

There are abundant offers of male and female labour. which will be distributed among the communes according to the applications received from the employers.

The Minister for Labour is increasing the facilities for the transport of foodstuffs by requisitioning the horses and vehicles not already requisitioned by the army.

Schneider, a maker of Crcusot guns, recently agreed to furnish '26 batteries of 105 millimetre guns., When the war broke out Schneider forfeited the contract deposit and presented the batteries to the French Government.

Paris, August 10. The proclamation of martial law has resulted in a pretentious display of humorous patriotic signs upon the closed shops, stating that the proprietors' assistants have joined the colours.

Some foreigners are using this device, hoping to secure immunity from damage by patriotic mobs.
