NEW ZEALAND'S TROOPS.

MEN GOING TO EUROPE.

GENERAL GODLEY COMMANDS.

WELLINGTON, Monday. The New Zealand expeditionary force is to go to Europe. ThU announcement was made in Parliament to-day by the Prime Minister.

"1 have been given to understand," he said, "that an idea obtains in gome quarters of New Zealand that our men are not going to the front, but are simply to be used for garrison duty to relieve regular troops, lamin a position to say that this is not the case. The New Zealand expeditionary force will go to Europe.

"In all probability they will call at an English port lor orders. What I .) dm saying now applies generally, because it must be understood that directly • the force leaves New Zealand they are Imperial troops in every sense of the word, and under the Imperial authorities. What lam saying now may not apply to every company or to every regiment. lam quite sure that our men 1 will be glad to learn that within a few weeks of their leaving New Zealand they may be at the front—probably in the fighting line."

Th& Prime Minister added that General Sir A. Oodley would go in command '' of the expeditionary force. The advance guard will be in charge of Colonel • Logan, officer commanding the Auckland military district.
