FEDERAL PREMIER'S VIEWS
BUSINESS MUST CONTINUE.
BRITAIN'S SEAWAY OPEN.
(Received August 10, 9.(0 in.)
Sydney, August 10.
The Federal Premier, Mr. Joseph Cook, has issued a statement to the effect that the fact that the country is committed to projects involving heavy cost demands that there shall be no stoppage in the developing of the energies of the people. Trade must continue as usual, and efforts should be made to increase, rather than to curtail, the national business.
After deprecating importers countermanding their orders, Mr.' Cook says there is' no justification for the fear that Britain's mastery of the sea is endangered. Her seaway was at present quite open. " The butter merchants have decided not to' increase prices.
