WAIHI.

[by telegraph.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.]

Waihi, Monday.

The Waihi Gold Mino Company's B pump has been thrown out of commission by a breakage of tho rod, and it is anticipated that this will delay development work at the 1300 ft level for three or four weeks. Pending repairs, the big C pump is being got ready, and the water will not bo allowed to rise appreciably. The company's supeiintendent, Mr. E, G. Banks, states that the men who were in the bottom level will bo employed elsewhere pending repairs, and the unvvateringof the 1300 ft level, and that mining operations generally will be carried on as usual. It is not expected that tho" temporary disablement of tho pump in the Waihi mine will in any way retard development work in the seventh level of the Waihi Grand Junction mino, as it would take some time for the water to rise sufficiently to interfere with operations at the Junction bottom workings.

GOLDEN BELT. The rise in the intermediate level, Golden Belt mine, Nevesville, was up 6ft last week. The reef looked well, and tho ore broken out will be sent to the battery this week. Tlio ore beiijg crushed is of a payablo quality. BLACKWATER.

The following cablegram has been sent to tho London office of tho Blackwater mines, Reefton:—" Reef struck in shaft" at 1081 ft. Reef assays loz 16dwt. Over 36in sampled."
