W.vxGAKtri, Thursday. ' A sensational motor accident, in which the occupants hod a miraculous escape from death, occurred last night. A lady and gentleman, residents of Stratford, wcre moto-ing home from Wangamii in a new car- At Manutahi the driver did not. observe that tho road took a sharp turn to the right and, in keeping straight ahead, the car went over an embankment fully 50ft high. It landed on a heavy barbed-wire fence. Fortunately for the occupants it did not overturn. Neither of the travellers was injured btyond severe, shock and a few 'scratches from the barbs. Tho car was badly damaged. GORED BY A CO./. SETTLER'S TERRIBLE INJURIES. [BT TELEGRAPH.— CORRESPONDENT.] Darcaville, Thursday. Whilst engaged in dehorning cows at Tangiteroria yesterday a man named John Whit-ford was gored in tho abdomen by one of tho animals. He was immediately conveyed to Dargavillo for medical attention. Although the injury is a serious one, tho doctors have hopes fur his recovery. LOCOMOTIVE COLLISION. DRIVER BADLY HURT. (BY TELEGRAPH.— CORRESPONDENT.] TirMARi-xn, Thursday. 'A sawmill locomotive' at Manunni crashed into the last waggon of another train, and the driver, William Brown, sustained several injuries, including ft broken leg. He was taken to the Tanmar :aui Hospital for treatment. The fireman jumped off tho engine and escaped injury. EXPLOSION OF GELIGNITE. ' The engineer of tho steamer Omana. J. Simpson,''met with an accident when ' boarding the vessel. The gangway flipped .and ho was precipitated on to the deck, a distance of 20ft. [BT TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Hamilton, Thursday. A boy named Reginald Smith was run over by a motor-car in Victoria. Street this afternoon and sustained a broken thigh. He- was taken to the hospital. A, fortnight ago the boy's sister and another little girl were knocked down by a motor-car in the main street, but escaped with slight injuries.
