BROWNING FATALITY.
TWO LIVES LOST.
A TREACHEROUS RIVER.
[HI TELEOEAPH.—PBESS ASSOCIATION.] - Gore, Sunday. A sad double drowning fatality has occurred in the Mataura River.
Mr. Thos. F. Goldie, a farmer of Wet.donsido, situated 28 miles from Gore, and his wife, both of whom wore between 40 and 50 years of age, visited Cattle Flat, seven miles from Wendonsido, on Thursday evening. They stayed with friends, ant! left at midnight on Friday in a trap. They had to ford the Mataura. A party of young men, including two of Goldie's stepsons, going to Balfour to play football on Saturday, found the smashed trap on the river bank, with the horse loose. Search jvas made, and the body of Goldie was found 100 yards below the ford •in 'a paddock, about 20 yards from the river. Mrs. Goldie's body was found a milo below the ford in a pool
