ONEHUNGA ADULT SCHOOL.
A very successful social was held on Saturday night in the Friendly Societies' Hall, Onehunga, in celebration of the second anniversary of the Adult School. ShoH addresses were delivered by Miss Jackson and Mr. Harle, representing the Mount Eden Adult School, and by Messrs. J. West and T. R. Gillman. A good programme of _ music, vocal and instrumental, was given under the conductorship of Mr. T. E. Smith, Miss Gillman acting as accompanist. The president, Mr. J Laking, presented Mr, A. S. Holmes, treasurer, with six volumes consisting of " Emerson's Complete Prose Works," H. Drummond's " Ideal Life," and " The New Theology," by Dr. Warsohauer. The president asked Mr. Holmes to accept the books from his fellow-members in appreciation of his many kindnesses to the Onehunga Adult "School. Mr. Holmessuitably replied. The annua! election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows : —President, Mr. J. Laking; vicepresidents, Messrs. T. Nash and F. Jackson ; secretary, Mr. N. Sinfield; treasurer, Mr. A. S. Holmes; organists. Mrs. Parker and Miss Gillman; registrar, Mr. L. Perks.
